Apple uses a special device identifier (UDID) through iTunes that allows media content to be distributed over the company’s sophisticated system. Apps are then installed from iTunes and all records of UDIDs are kept on the system. But, what if your application is not yet in the AppStore? What if you still need to test it?
Well, Apple thought of that too! The company has a special Apple iPhone Developer Program that allows members to install any of their applications on any device. Even if we still have your app in the development stages, you should take advantage of this program. At a cost of just $99 per year, it should be thought of in the same regard as purchasing a domain name when building a website. Once you become a member, you can test and run your app on:
- Any of our mobile Apple devices (we provide a number of different iPhone, iPads, and iPods for development and testing);
- Your personal iPhone, iPad, or iPod;
- Any device your friends, family, or customers may have.
After you have become a member of the program, all you need to do is send us your login information and we’ll take care of the rest. We handle it all: from assembling builds, and adding UDIDs, to creating certificates, applying for the AppStore, and everything between.
